Fort Bend's Holiday Lights: Your Guide to the Season's Biggest Displays

Fort Bend County is lighting up for the holidays! If you're looking for family-friendly activities to enjoy over the long weekend or throughout December, we've got four major holiday light attractions happening in the area!
Magical Winter Lights returns to the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg (my hometown!) through January 4th. This year's walk-through lantern festival features new additions including a petting zoo, carnival rides, nightly acrobatic shows, and stunning cultural displays. Plan for 2-3 hours if you want to experience everything.
Classic Christmas brings an alpine-themed wonderland to Katy Mills Mall with outdoor ice skating, snow tubing, Santa visits, movie screenings (including Elf and The Polar Express), and live entertainment. This is your one-stop shop if you want maximum holiday activities in a single outing.
The Light Park at Typhoon Texas in Katy offers a cozy drive-through experience perfect for families who want to stay warm. This 1-mile route features lights synchronized to music on your car radio. Pro tip: Visit Monday through Thursday for shorter wait times and better pricing.
Sugar Land Holiday Lights returns to Constellation Field for its 12th season with 3.5 million lights across 10 themed areas. Customize your experience with mini golf, ice skating, carnival rides, or keep it simple with a stroll through the displays and a visit with Santa (through December 23rd).
There's something for every family and budget. Whether you prefer walking through lantern displays, staying cozy in your car, or going all-out with skating and rides, Fort Bend has you covered this holiday season.
Happy holidays, Fort Bend!
Fort Bend County Market Update: October 2025
The Fort Bend County real estate market continues to show resilience as we close out the fall season. Here's what October's numbers tell us about our local market:
Prices Remain Strong Fort Bend County's median home price reached $389,220 in October, representing a modest 1.2% increase compared to last year. This steady appreciation demonstrates the continued desirability of our area, driven by excellent schools, growing employment opportunities, and proximity to Houston.
Market Is Normalizing Homes are now spending an average of 72 days on the market, up from 56 days last year. This is actually good news for buyers—it means you have more time to make thoughtful decisions without the pressure of bidding wars. For sellers, it emphasizes the importance of competitive pricing and proper home preparation.
Inventory Remains Tight With 976 homes sold in October (compared to 1,009 last year), we're seeing slightly lower transaction volume. This reflects the ongoing inventory challenges many markets are experiencing. Quality listings are still moving, but buyers have become more selective.
What This Means for You
If you're buying: This is a more balanced market than we've seen in recent years. You have negotiating power, especially on homes that have been listed for 30+ days. Take your time, get inspections, and don't feel pressured.
If you're selling: Pricing is critical. Homes priced right are still selling within 60-90 days, but overpricing will cost you valuable market time. Professional staging, quality photos, and strategic marketing matter more than ever.
